The creative industry is growing daily with almost everyone and every business adding the title "creative" to their name.
People have come to realise that having a bit of creativity in what we do makes it better, unique and more appealing.
In 2017, I was in a conference organised by Danceville Entertainment Uyo Akwa Ibom State for creatives and we had the creative maestro Pastor Segun Lawal (you had better Google him and thank me later) speak to us about the creative Industry.
The majority of what I learnt from that session will be shared in this post.
The truth is that if you expect things to change then you have to constantly develop yourself because things don't change unless people do.
We are all products of someone's invention and thought. You have to be loyal to developing yourself and ready to change with time.
In the creative industry, marketing is a philosophy, a process and a set of carefully considered strategies and tactics for influencing behaviour, either by changing it or preventing a change in behaviour.
Marketing tends to influence behaviour not just to sell a product but to instil the idea of what the product does (benefits) into the audience.
You should never compromise the quality and standard of your products or who you are and learn to combine various marketing tools to work for you, that way you will stay relevant in the creative industry.
It is not enough for creative to only care about creating. In a creative industry, we talk about so many factors that make the industry stand.
The industry takes a whole lot of process to start and needs programming to keep moving forward and this process shouldn't stop to enable success in the industry.
We need to know that success is an opportunity that meets readiness and a good and well-marketed art equals a creative industry.
Creative Content is frustrated without industry for creativity to thrive and produce an effective industry driven by management.
We must learn management and presenting content in the best way possible.
Essential Factors of a Creative Industry Includes;
This refers to Reputation, Perception, Impact, Consistency, Benefit. These terms will be further explained to give a clear understanding of the need for value in a creative industry.
(a.) Reputation
Reputation takes on all 5 stages of value, it refers to what I/you will do, what I am, what you are, who I am, who you are and that will not change in a long time. simply put standards builds reputation.
(b.) Perception
Value is placed on how people perceive the item/ product. perception makes someone important or not. value is largely based on how you are perceived. you build perception visually and by guiding the narrative.
(c.) Impact
This deals with how you are remembered, the lives you have touched. Impact deals a lot with numbers
(d.) Consistency
When making an evaluation, give it a future variable, have a future plan and plug people into it. consistency breeds recognition.
(e.) Benefit; The value of a thing is not the same as the cost of the thing, it is the cost of setting it up, the cost that goes into production. some items cannot be valued by money, but by the benefit of the item/work/art. you need to identify the desired benefit of an item/art and exploit it to harness its real value. when pushing a brand, push beyond products, push benefits.
There can be no value creation if your art is invisible, visibility is connecting with your audience and letting them know that you are there.
To be visible, you need to be found. Visibility is very deliberate in the impact it makes. Introduce your new works to the audience that works for your product /art or service.
Be known, Identifiable and constant with programming. Explore marketing platforms and determine which is best to market your product/service/art.
You also need to take notice of who your product improves and how it makes society better. Creative content exists for audiences therefore build audience capacity for your content.
Content is not just the art/product/service but also how it is perceived, managed, communicated/presented, preserved and reviewed.
Good content is a deliberate process of vision and hard work, evaluating failure and making sure it doesn't happen.
This is how you bridge expectations between the creatives and the audience. Creatives serve the audience but the audience needs to appreciate the work of the creatives.
It is dangerous for the audience to detect or decipher the next move of the creative.
In summary, the creative industry is bigger than we see it. There are more factors needed in the creative industry and everything that talks about art management and creativity can be seen in www.segunlawal.com .
You will find books on several arts management courses and creative content.

2. Oracle Code Week Nigeria 2021 Report
Technology trends continue to evolve daily and in view of this, most tech-driven organizations have found innovative ways to build and encourage the growth of technology in Nigerian schools.
Two of such organizations that have taken it upon themselves to groom computer science teachers and lecturers all over Nigeria in other to stay true to their vision of improving computer education globally are Oracle Academy and WiFiCombat Academy.
Oracle Academy in partnership with WiFiCombat Academy held a 10 days Easter Boot camp training for computer science teachers in Nigeria in their just-concluded Oracle Code Week Nigeria 2021.
The virtual training which was held for two batches; A and B on the zoom platform lasted for 5 days respectively.
Batch A was held on the 29th-30th of May, 5th, 6th, and 12th of June 2021 while Batch B was slated for 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th of June, and 3rd July 2021.
Each year Oracle Academy helps Computer science teachers acquire new knowledge in the tech world. Hence this year’s training focused on the use of Oracle APEX.
Oracle APEX is a low-code development platform that enables you to build scalable, secure enterprise applications with world-class features that can be deployed anywhere.
Prior to the commencement of the training, over 100 computer science teachers from schools across different states in Nigeria registered successfully.
However, on the first day of the training for Batch A about a hundred teachers came aboard while a few others waited to join the Batch B which started at a later date.
Oracle Academy Programs Manager; Bekere Amassoma made the opening statement where she encouraged teachers to utilize the various resources available in the Oracle Academy platform for members.
Mrs. Dele Tejuoso, founder of the WiFiCombat Academy, on the other hand, welcomed facilitators and participants to the 1st day of the training.
She stated how encouraging the turnout of teachers was which in turn showed the zeal the teachers had in being part of their campaign on improving computer education in Nigeria.
She stated thus, “The curriculum of Oracle Academy is updated every 3 years to accommodate all the relevant changes globally because it is known that technology is fast evolving and we don’t want to be left behind so as to churn out career-ready students who are competitive.”
She also announced that the most recent offer Oracle Academy has for computer science teachers is the Member Hub – an integrated management system that houses all Oracle academy resources that teachers need to aid them in their work as computer science teachers.
She went ahead to encourage the participants to spread the word about Oracle Academy and their periodic pieces of training to other teachers.
The training which commenced immediately with an introduction into the Oracle APEX was handled by Mr. Kolade Balogun, a trainer, and partner of Oracle Academy, and subsequently, his assistant Mr. Samuel Adeniji helped to tackle most questions asked by the trainees.
The first day of training saw the teachers being taught on creating a workspace on the Oracle APEX which gave them free access for 30 days.
Mr. Kolade went ahead to share detailed slides introducing them to the various tools in Oracle APEX which includes; App builder, SQL workshop, Team development, and App gallery.
Mr. Kolade took his time to explain that although the Oracle APEX is a low code app which means you don’t have to write so much code to be able to use the app for what you need it for, however, one must be conversant with SQL to use it better.
Mr. Gege raised a question on whether or not the Oracle SQL was the same as the one they were familiar with on other database management systems.
Mr. Samuel replied saying, “Yes, the Oracle SQL is the same as the SQL you are familiar with in other database management systems.
However, there might be slight differences in procedures.
Just like you have MySQL, its procedures are different from that of Oracle Apex.
Subsequently, the teachers were guided on how to use the various components of the Oracle APEX to build apps, create, store, manage and update data.
Every level of difficulty encountered by the participants was resolved by the facilitators by ensuring the participants shared their screens so they could be guided on how to overcome the challenges they faced.
At the end of the 5 days training, all the teachers were elated as they had learned a new way of handling data without having to write so many codes as most of the other database management systems required.
They thanked Oracle Academy and WiFiCombat for creating such golden opportunities such as the annual Oracle CodeWeek training for computer science teachers to improve in their field.
Certificates were awarded to participants who were active for at least 3 out of the 5 days of the training.
